The Tunisia national team continued its perfect start in Group H of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to be held in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

The Tunisian team succeeded in achieving a valuable 1-0 victory over its guest, Equatorial Guinea, on Wednesday, in the third round of the group, which also includes the teams of Namibia, Liberia, Malawi, and Sao Tome and Principe.

Equatorial Guinea was in control for most of the match, which was held at the Hamadi Al-Aqrabi Stadium in the Tunisian capital, but the Tunisian team succeeded in settling matters thanks to the experience of its stars, as Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan scored the only goal of the match in the 82nd minute from a penalty kick.

With this victory, the Tunisian national team is at the top of the group standings with 9 points, achieving the full score so far, after defeating the Malawi and Sao Tome and Principe teams in the first two rounds.

The Tunisia national team is followed in the standings by two points behind the Namibia national team, which will host the “Carthage Eagles” in the fourth round of the qualifiers next Sunday.

As for the Equatorial Guinea national team, it remained without any points, as the results of its two matches against Namibia and Liberia in the first and second rounds were counted as a loss, despite its victory in both of them, due to an administrative error, as a result of striker Emilio Nsoi participating with the national team illegally.

It is noteworthy that the Tunisian national team aims to participate in the World Cup for the seventh time in its history and the third in a row, after its previous participation in the 1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018 and 2022 editions, as the group leader will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup.
