The platform “X,” owned by billionaire Elon Musk , has announced a policy change to allow the posting of pornographic content, sparking widespread discussion in media and social circles.
According to reports from the “Washington Post,” such content was already available on platforms like Twitter, but users will now be warned with an “adult content” label to avoid unintended audiences.
The new policies are designed to ensure that this type of content does not reach users under the age of 18, with the option to adjust settings to prevent these materials from appearing.
This announcement comes amid legal battles Musk is facing with governments attempting to impose censorship on the platform.
Experts’ comments suggest that this approach by “X” is relatively transparent compared to other platforms that prefer ambiguity in their adult content guidelines.
Noah Wexler from “Four Corners Public Affairs” emphasized the need to improve controls against illegal content, such as material that sexually exploits children.
The platform’s new policy states that pornographic videos must be produced with the consent of the involved parties and clearly marked to protect users from unwanted surprises.
Elon Musk is also facing several lawsuits, including one against a hate speech monitoring center. An American judge dismissed Musk’s lawsuit against a non-profit organization that criticized him for allowing increased hate speech on his social media platform “X.”
Musk also faces a lawsuit against “Media Matters,” which accused the platform of allowing anti-Semitic posts to appear alongside commercial advertisements.
