“The Shelby Column Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy” revealed the possibility of the US AFRICOM Command (Africa Division of the US Army) based in Morocco, knowing that this command is headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany.

The relations between Morocco and the United States are strong militarily, and this translates into several joint activities, such as the annual African Lion exercise, which is “the largest U.S. command exercise in Africa,” and is therefore “a testament to the enduring security partnership between the two countries,” according to the recent report of the American Institute.

This comes in light of Morocco’s readiness to host the “African Lion” exercises in partnership with the United States of America, starting from May 20 to May 31, with the participation of the armies of many countries.

According to a communiqué issued by the Royal Armed Forces, the exercises will take place in the regions of Agadir, Tan-Tan, Tata, Kenitra, Ben Guerir and Tifnit.

The United States deploys parts of its forces in Africa under various slogans, including “fighting terrorism”, as it seeks to seize the continent’s resources.

Talk of choosing Morocco as the headquarters of “AFRICOM” coincides with the increased activity of national liberation movements in Africa against Western colonial powers, forcing the United States to withdraw from many countries, the latest of which is Niger, from which it is currently preparing to withdraw.
