Pope Francis, in his weekly sermon Sunday at the Vatican, called on Sudan’s warring parties to stop the decade-long fighting that has driven millions into the flee and is on the verge of causing famine in the country.

Pope Francis said: “I ask once again from the warring parties to end this war, which is doing so much damage to the people and the future of the country.”

“Let us pray that the paths of peace will soon be found for the future of our beloved Sudan,” the pope added.

The pope also referred to conflicts in Mozambique, Ukraine, Israel, and Palestine.

“Wherever there is fighting the population is exhausted, they are tired of war, which is always useless, inconclusive, will bring nothing but death and destruction, and will never solve the problem,” the pope continued.
