The head of the Sovereignty Council and commander of the Sudanese army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, on Monday criticized the “Baraa Brigade”, saying that “many countries have turned their back on the country because of it.”

Al-Burhan expressed his dissatisfaction with the intensive media presence of the battalion and its broadcast of videos of marches bearing the battalion’s logo, noting his disagreement with its actions independent of the army command, according to the newspaper “Al-Sudani”.

Al-Burhan said during a meeting held at the Military Academy: “The fighters of the Baraa Brigade want to fight alongside us, but their actions and approach do not agree with it.”

“All people must fight under the army’s flag, the army’s logo and the army’s media, and we never agree to loyal entities and organizations,” al-Burhan said.

The “Baraa Brigade” is considered one of the most prepared, trained, and armed Brotherhood battalions, as it consists of trained youth groups between the ages of 20 and 35, most of whose members are from the backgrounds of student organizations that were working under the umbrella of Student Security and the General Union of Sudanese Students, one of the most important tactical arms of the former Brotherhood regime in Sudan.

Throughout the 30 years of the Brotherhood’s rule, the group’s armed brigades, including the Popular Security, Students, Popular Defense Forces, and other Brotherhood groups, enjoyed high privileges even at the expense of the armed forces and other security agencies.
