Alper Geziravci, the first Turkish astronaut, was involved in a traffic accident in Kocaeli state, and he was accompanied by two others in the car.
The accident occurred in the Yenidogan neighborhood on the D-100 highway towards Ankara, where a medium bus collided with his car from behind.
Medical teams and police arrived at the site of the accident immediately after it occurred, and Geziravci was transferred to Kocaeli City Hospital as a precautionary measure, and medical examinations confirmed that he was in good health.
Kocaeli Governor Sedar Yavuz, who visited the hospital to follow up on the condition of Geziravci and the two other people who were with him, told reporters: “All the necessary images and analyzes have been conducted and examined, and so far, no injuries have been discovered, and they are currently in the hospital for follow-up purposes.”
It is noteworthy that Geziravci, a military pilot, participated in a special space mission planned by the “SpaceX” company to the International Space Station on January 18, 2024, within the “Axiom Mission 3” (or Ax-3) mission, and the “Dragon” capsule arrived with three astronauts on board. Space to the International Space Station on January 20.
After returning from space, Geziravci toured various cities and participated in educational events with students, where he gave lectures about his space experience.
