A Russian Il-76 military cargo plane crashed on Tuesday after a fire broke out in one of its engines.

The Russian news agency TASS reported that the incident occurred in the Ivanovo province shortly after takeoff, noting that there were no survivors, until the moment the news was published.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the crew consisted of eight people, in addition to seven passengers.

Russian social networks circulated videos showing the moment the plane crashed and its engine caught fire.

Emergency services continue to operate at the scene, where a Russian military helicopter, likely a Mi-8 multirole helicopter, was seen flying near the wreckage to search for and rescue survivors.
