The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is preparing to postpone the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco to a later date, media sources reported.
The Moroccan website “The Tournament” wrote, quoting journalist Mickey Junior, “The Executive Bureau of the Confederation of African Football will hold a working session in the next few days, in order to determine the deadline for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.”
The site continued: “All indications confirm that the tournament will be carried over to the beginning of 2026 to be held in the winter, as was the case in the last two editions in Cameroon and Ivory Coast, respectively.”
Other sources said that “this new postponement comes because the first edition of the Club World Cup with its new format will be held in the summer of next year.”
The finals of the 35th edition of the African Cup of Nations were expected to be held in the summer of 2025, but in the Club World Cup 4 African clubs participate, and most European teams include stars from the African continent.
