Gamal Rochdi, spokesman for the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, expressed the League’s readiness to host all Sudanese warring parties with the aim of reaching a comprehensive solution to the crisis.
In remarks made on Tuesday, Rushdie stressed that the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, believes that the Sudanese crisis is a major priority for the League, pointing to the importance of listening to all concerned parties at this critical stage.
Rushdi pointed out that the Secretary-General showed special interest in the vision of the former Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdok, and to provide support for his efforts to find solutions to the current crisis.
Rochdi explained during his remarks to the Arab World News Agency “AWP” that the Secretary-General considers that the Arab intervention, led by the Arab League, can play an important role in reaching a political solution to the Sudanese crisis.
He stressed that the priority of the Arab League is to preserve the unity and stability of Sudan, and that efforts must be integrated to achieve an immediate ceasefire and find peaceful solutions to the conflict.
In a related context, Abdullah Hamdok, former Sudanese Prime Minister, said that Cairo may host a possible meeting between the head of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, “Hemedti”, with the aim of stopping the ongoing war in Sudan.
Rochdi concluded his remarks by stressing that the Arab League is committed to supporting international and regional efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution that guarantees Sudan’s stability and territorial integrity, expressing his hope that these efforts can stop the violence and achieve lasting peace in the country.
