Former England star Chris Sutton saw Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah as part of the problem that led to Liverpool’s decline.
In a statement to the BBC, Sutton criticized Salah, pointing out that the player must regain his football luster to help his team overcome this difficult stage.
Sutton, who previously played for leading teams such as Chelsea, Celtic and Aston Villa, said the challenge for manager Jurgen Klopp was to motivate Salah to return to his outstanding form after recovering from injury and shouldering his responsibilities in taking advantage of the opportunities presented to him.
Klopp made six changes to the starting line-up in the match against Atalanta, and Salah kept the bench during the first half, and returned to involve him in the second half, but Salah did not succeed in scoring any goal.
Liverpool, who were strong favorites to win the Premier League, face major challenges, losing top spot in the league after drawing 2-2 with Manchester United, and suffering a tough 3-0 defeat to Atalanta in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.
