Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Harith Idris, stated that Chad’s borders have become the first supply line for the RSF.

In his speech to the UN Security Council session, Idris said: “After the outbreak of the war, Chad’s borders became the first line of supply for the militia (Rapid Support) with weapons, supplies and mercenaries to continue its war against the Sudanese people.”

Idris explained that Sudan is facing a war supported by several countries, fighters, and mercenaries from different continents, including some neighboring countries, as Sudan had officially accused Chad and the UAE of supporting the Rapid Support Forces, which led to strained diplomatic relations and the exchange of expulsions of diplomats between the three countries.

Idris complained about poor humanitarian funding, including pledges by countries in May to allocate $1.5 billion, for which the commitment rate was only 30 percent.

After nearly 11 months of fighting, 25 million Sudanese are in need of humanitarian assistance, including nearly 18 million food insecure.
