Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Sadiq Ali on Monday (February 5th) discussed with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian the reopening of the embassies of the two countries in Tehran and Khartoum.

Ali Sadiq Ali’s visit is the first of its kind by a high-level Sudanese official to Tehran after the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries, after a rupture that lasted nearly seven years.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said during his weekly press conference: “We hope that the visit of Sudan’s foreign minister to Iran will lead to the formation of a new atmosphere in relations between the two countries.”

Kanani revealed that Iran and Sudan are laying the foundations and making the necessary preparations to reopen their embassies in Tehran and Khartoum.
