Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Aguila Saleh, President of the Presidential Council Mohamed al-Menfi and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Khalifa Haftar affirmed their readiness to participate in the round of dialogue called for by the United Nations Mission in Libya without excluding any party.

At the end of their meeting in the Egyptian capital Cairo, Aguila Saleh, Menfi and Haftar expressed in a joint statement their readiness to participate in the aforementioned round of dialogue, provided that the reservations and demands of the two meetings are considered and considered.

The participants added in their statement: “We stress the importance of the efforts led by the United Nations mission, and the importance of supporting a balanced Libyan-Libyan solution in order to achieve the aspirations and hopes of the Libyan people to hold simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.”

Libyan leaders extended an invitation to the UN mission, calling for the need to find common ground to ensure the success of the dialogue.

In early December, Aguila Saleh stressed the need for a single executive authority in the country and for presidential and parliamentary elections to be held.

He spoke to a delegation of notables and elders and a number of social structures in the city of Derna about the mechanism for forming the new government, and pointed out that this will take place before the end of December and Libya will have one mini-government that will take the country to elections.
