Hundreds of Sudanese ”Nuba” tribes serving in the Sudanese army announced that they had joined the ranks of the Rapid Support Forces in Gezira state in central Sudan, carrying with them all their military equipment, according to local sources.

The accession was in response to the appeal of General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, commander of the Rapid Support Forces.

The group’s representative, Coleb Zubair Kafi, announced that 953 Nuba members had officially joined the ranks of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Zubair Kafi stressed that this accession reflects their solidarity and full bias towards the issues of national unity and building Sudan on the foundations of freedom, peace, and justice.

Abu Akleh Mohamed Ahmed, commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Jazira region, said the accession was a “real defection” from the armed forces to the( RSF).

He explained that these honorable members of the armed forces express their full bias towards national issues, and that they will head to the alternative capital Port Sudan, stressing at the same time that “the door to peace has not been closed.”
