Real Madrid players celebrated with their fans in Madrid by winning the LaLiga title for the 36th time in its history.
Real Madrid refused to celebrate the Spanish league title for the season (2023-2024), after beating Granada (4-0) in the match that brought them together on Saturday evening.
It is customary in Spain to lift the trophy in the next match, to confirm victory, but given Real Madrid’s opinion that it would be inappropriate to celebrate the tournament in front of Granada fans, they decided to postpone their celebrations.
Real Madrid agreed with the Spanish Football Federation to postpone the award of the championship shield until May 14.
Real Madrid were handed the trophy on Sunday behind closed doors without fans present, and then Real Madrid players appeared on an open bus to thousands of fans welcoming the streets of Madrid.
The celebrations began with the delivery of the Champions League Cup, where the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation handed it to captain Nacho Fernandez in the presence of Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez.
Florentino Pérez and honorary president Jose Martinez “Perry” later joined as well as the president of the Spanish Football Federation.
A video went viral showing Real Madrid players singing with their veteran Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, who said: “Let’s sing the most beautiful anthem in the world.”
