Nigerian Defense Minister Mohamed Badaro has called on Libya to cooperate with his country in tackling the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, as well as drug smuggling from Libya to Nigeria.
During a meeting with a Libyan delegation on the sidelines of the African counter-terrorism meeting in Abuja, Badaro stressed the importance of joint action in curbing the proliferation of weapons and enhancing security, according to the Nigerian Ministry of Defense.
The two sides discussed other vital security issues affecting security in both countries, as well as cooperation and intelligence exchange to promote and guide policies between the two countries.
The counter-terrorism summit discussed the need to strengthen regional cooperation and strengthen institutions to counter the growing threat of terrorism, develop capacities and strengthen international cooperation to reformulate the collective response to terrorist challenges in Africa.
