The Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MAZEN) announced the launch of a tender for the construction of two wind farms with a production capacity up to 400 megawatts in the north of the Kingdom.
Mazen is seeking qualified developers to finance, build and operate the wind plant, named Nassim Nord, by inviting them to submit pre-qualification documents by June 24.
The project includes two wind farms, the first with a capacity of 150 MW in the provinces of Fahs-Angra and the Fnideq Strait, and the second with a capacity of 250 MW in the provinces of Tangier and Tetouan.
The announcement is part of a strategic plan to raise renewable energy from 37.6% to 52% of total production capacity by 2030.
It is noteworthy that Morocco witnessed remarkable economic growth in the last quarter of 2023, with a growth rate of 4.1%, compared to 0.7% during the same period of the previous year.
