The Libyan Presidential Council, in its capacity as the Supreme Commander of the Army, issued strict instructions for all forces to return to their barracks immediately, stressing the need not to move or mobilize any forces without obtaining prior permission from it.
The Presidential Council explained in its statement that it had monitored unauthorized movements by some military units in various regions of the country, without any reasons requiring this.
It stressed that these undisciplined movements could lead to destabilization and plunge the country into a state of chaos, which is a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
The Council stressed that the authority to raise the state of alert and mobilize forces is the exclusive prerogative of the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, and that any violation of this prerogative is a clear violation of military orders.
Libya has witnessed new military movements by the Libyan Arab Armed Forces towards the southwest of the country in a move aimed at combating illegal activities such as arms trafficking and smuggling oil and drugs across the borders.
The Chief of Staff of the Land Forces affiliated with the General Command explained that the military movements in the southern regions of Libya come in implementation of the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief, Khalifa Haftar.
This step comes within the framework of a comprehensive plan aimed at securing the southern borders, enhancing national security, and intensifying control over the border strip with neighboring countries.
