On Sunday, the city of Kufra was exposed to unprecedented heavy rains that led to flooding inside the Martyr Attia Al-Kaseh Hospital, forcing the authorities to evacuate patients and transfer them to other clinics.

A video clip published by the Red Crescent Society, Kufra branch, showed the efforts of its emergency team in evacuating patients and ensuring their safety.

The team provided psychological support to children from the Sudanese community who were separated from their families during the rain wave, and contributed to securing a safe passage for a Sudanese family whose home was damaged by the floods, in addition to providing first aid to the injured.

The National Meteorological Authority confirmed that the amount of rain that fell on Kufra in one hour amounted to 46 millimeters, which is the largest amount recorded in the city since 1952.

The center warned of the continued impact of thunderstorms and rain on the southern regions, especially in the border areas with Chad, Sudan and Niger, until Tuesday.
