The government appointed by the Libyan House of Representatives proposed to Russia economic projects to build oil refineries on the Mediterranean coast in Libya.

Libyan Minister of Investments Ali Al-Saidi Al-Qaidi said: “We urge the Russian authorities to build refineries on the Libyan coast, especially in light of the embargo imposed on Russian oil. We are ready to refine oil and sell it instead of crude oil.”

Al-Qaidi added: “We in Libya are looking for a real partner for cooperation and construction in all economic, political and development fields. Everyone knows that Russia is a superpower and a permanent member of the Security Council, and we are happy to develop our relations with Russia, which also seeks true partnership.”

The Libyan minister explained that “the field is open to all Russian companies, without exception, to invest and participate in Libya.”

This proposal comes in light of the United States expanding the sanctions imposed on Russia on Wednesday, as the new sanctions included 33 people, 327 entities, and 7 ships, targeting various fields, including scientific, defense, financial, energy, and even social fields.

Russia has indicated on numerous occasions that it will deal with the pressures of sanctions that have been imposed by the West for several years and are still increasing.

Moscow also confirmed that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of the sanctions against it, noting that there are opinions in Western countries that repeatedly express the ineffectiveness of the sanctions against Russia.
