The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, received Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and her accompanying delegation in his office in the Al-Rajma area, east of Benghazi.

The media office of the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces said that Haftar welcomed the Italian Prime Minister, expressing his thanks and appreciation for her visit to the headquarters of the General Command in Benghazi, to discuss the latest local and regional developments and developments, and to discuss ways of cooperation and coordination between the two countries.

The two sides discussed the importance of working to continue advancing the political process in Libya to ensure the holding of presidential and parliamentary elections to reach the stage of stability in the country.

The Italian Prime Minister expressed her appreciation for the key role of the armed forces in maintaining security and stability and their keenness on the unity of the Libyan territory.

She stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership between the two sides in the commercial, economic, and cultural fields, continuing cooperation in combating illegal migration and human trafficking networks and taking the necessary measures to reduce this phenomenon in the common interest of the two countries.
