Jordanian parliamentarian Khalil Attia burned the Israeli flag before trampling on it inside the main hall of the Arab League in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

A video showed Attia burning the flag, saying: “In revenge for the people of Gaza and in revenge for the martyrs of Gaza, we burn your flag, Zionists.”

This came on the sidelines of the MP’s participation in the Arab Parliament session in the main hall of the Arab League, which was held in Cairo, earlier on Thursday, December 28.

Khalil Attia had burned the Israeli flag on previous occasions inside the Jordanian parliament hall.

There was no immediate comment from Jordan’s parliament or the Arab League on the incident, nor did Israel immediately comment.

Attia, 65, is an independent member who has represented Amman’s first constituency for seven consecutive parliamentary terms, holds a master’s degree in private law, and is known for his sympathy with the Palestinian cause.
