The Israeli government has directed its diplomatic missions around the world to prepare for the possibility of the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing arrest warrants for senior Israeli officials.
This trend comes in light of the court’s ongoing investigations into events in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which include the military operations between Israel and Hamas that erupted last October.
Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz sent letters to Jewish diplomatic missions and organizations around the world to work with local authorities to enhance security and prepare for any reactions to the court’s decisions.
Israel is preparing to face the possibility of issuing warrants against prominent figures such as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Galant, and Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi.
The ICC has not yet made any official statements regarding possible proceedings.
