Yemen’s Houthi group has announced that the coalition formed by the United States against it will not stop the group’s operations against ships bound for Israel in the Red Sea.

Ansar Allah spokesman Mohammed Abdul Salam said, “Yemen’s naval operations aimed at supporting the Palestinian people in the face of aggression and siege on Gaza are not a show of force or a challenge to anyone, and whoever seeks to expand the conflict must bear the consequences of his actions.”

He added that the coalition formed to protect Israel and militarize the sea without any justification and will not stop Yemen from continuing its legitimate operations in support of Gaza.

He added that Washington has allowed itself to support Israel by forming a coalition and without an alliance, as the peoples of the region have full legitimacy to support the Palestinian people, and Yemen has taken it upon itself to stand by the Palestinian right and Gaza’s great grievances.

The spokesman said that his group targets ships bound for Israel only, while the rest of the ships will not be harmed, and praised the companies that announced the suspension of navigation to Israeli ports.

The spokesman stressed the position of the Houthi group on the need to “enter full aid into the Gaza Strip, and pressure on Israel to stop its aggression and break the siege,” and stressed that Yemeni operations will continue at an escalating pace if aid is not brought into the Strip.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced the formation of multinational international forces aimed at deterring Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and threatening maritime trade trips.

The U.S. coalition aims to jointly address security challenges in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, with the goal of “ensuring freedom of navigation for all countries and promoting regional security and prosperity,” Austin said.

The mission will include troops from 10 countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, Spain, and Bahrain, as well as the United States.
