The rapporteur general of the Constituent Assembly for the drafting of the constitution, Taleb Ramadan Tuwaijer, pointed to the need to reconsider the role of the UN mission in Libya.
In televised remarks to Libya 24 News, Al-Tuwaijer stressed that “canceling the expansion of powers is not possible according to the complexity in the Libyan scene,” stressing the importance of modifying its mission or canceling it completely.
“What is happening in Libya is a direct or indirect reflection of the conflicts taking place at the global level,” he said, stressing the need for a local dialogue led by Libyans themselves to achieve stability and national unity.
Al-Tuwaijer stressed the importance of “everyone’s goal now being to establish the Libyan state, unify its institutions, then agree on the electoral process and go to the elections.”
Al-Tuwaijer’s statement comes at a time when Libya is witnessing continuing conflicts and instability, especially in the western part of the country, which suffers from factional conflict and deteriorating living conditions.
