Sputnik news agency quoted the ministry in a statement, saying: “the Admiral Grigorovich frigate paid a working visit to the port of Algiers, as part of its trip in the Mediterranean Sea.

“The frigate’s Command participated in protocol meetings with the command of the Naval District of the Algerian Navy, with the Algerian Naval Base and the port administration,” the statement added.

At the moment, the frigate continues to move along the approved route in the eastern part of the Mediterranean, and the results of the ship’s entry into Algeria were reported to the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, admiral Nikolai evmenov.

Earlier, the Algerian Ministry of Defense announced that the Russian frigate “Admiral Grigorovich 745” of the Russian Black Sea Fleet has docked in the port of Algiers, within the framework of bilateral Algerian – Russian military cooperation.

In mid-June, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune held talks in Moscow and signed a joint declaration outlining a number of areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.the package of documents signed included a declaration on strengthening strategic cooperation between Russia and Algeria, which, President Putin said, “will open a new, more advanced stage in bilateral relations between the two countries”.
