The European Space Agency’s ERS-2 satellite fell on Wednesday at 17:17 GMT in the North Pacific.

The satellite entered the atmosphere and burned up, and its debris is believed to have turned to dust and small pieces of it have fallen into the ocean, according to the European Space Agency.

The International Astronomy Center quoted the US Department of Defense report: “The European satellite (ERS-2) fell at 17:17 GMT in the North Pacific.”

The ERS-2 satellite was launched into space in 1995, and in 2011, ERS-2 retired and began the process of de-orbiting.
