The UEFA Euro 2024 Football Championship kicked off today, Friday, and the organizers provide details of the work of this competition, which continues until July 14.
The qualifying system remains the same as in the previous two editions, with the 24 participating teams divided into six groups, each containing four teams.
The top two teams in each group qualify directly to the round of 16, in addition to four of the third-placed teams with the best results. In the event of a tie in points, the standings are decided based on the points obtained in the direct matches, goal difference, and then goals scored.
The rules allow five substitutions for each team in one match, with the possibility of adding a sixth substitution if the match extends to additional periods. Coaches are also allowed to call up between 23 to 26 players for each match.
As for injuries or serious illnesses, players are allowed to be replaced before the first match with medical approval. On the other hand, expelling any player leads to automatic suspension from the next match, while accumulated warnings are canceled at the end of the quarter-finals to ensure fairness between the teams in the advanced stages of the competition.
The European Nations Cup, Euro 2024, will be held in Germany and will continue until July 14, 20241. 24 teams will participate in it, and matches will be played in 10 different German cities, including Berlin, Munich, and Dortmund.
