The executing company of the project to establish the new university hospital in the Egyptian city of Benha discovered the presence of a coffin inside the project land during excavation and some artifacts.

The advisor to the President of Benha University for Engineering Affairs, Mohamed Saeed, said in a statement that after the completion of the implementation of the first phase within the construction of the new Benha University Hospital, and when the excavation work began, a coffin and its lid were found, which weighs about 50 tons of stone blocks inscribed inside on the upper part of it in hieroglyphics, and it is said that the archaeological discovery is an ancient tomb of the ruler’s clerk in Benha about 2,700 years old.

Saeed confirmed that the Antiquities Authority was immediately notified, and the coffin and artifacts were moved to prevent disruption of the project, and currently the rest of the necessary measures are being taken in coordination with the Authority and the Office of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to continue work on the project and prevent its disruption.
