Democratic Unionist Party affirmed sincere interest in the initiatives of brotherly and friendly countries, international and regional organizations, and Sudan’s neighboring countries, to stop the war in the country and restore the democratic transition.

In a statement on the occasion of Sudan’s sixty-eighth Independence Day, which falls on January 1, DUP affirmed its call for “comprehensive national reconciliation between political and societal forces, civil society forces and all components of the Sudanese people, in a way that unites the national political parties to overcome the crisis and for a new beginning that protects aboveground capabilities and belowground capabilities.” Wealth threatened by targeting, conspiracy, ambitions and whims.”

DUP said, “The glorious independence was a great national epic in which the founding fathers wrote the most wonderful national positions for the Sudanese nation, as it came together and with all its components agreed by unifying the country’s political will and completing the national construction at the moment when the decision was taken to declare independence from within Parliament on 19 December 1955, under the auspices and supervision of the father of nationalism and the first Sudanese political intellectual, Ali Al-Mirghani, which confirmed the strength of national unity in the country, represented in the elected parliament, and in a way that refutes claims of diminishing independence, protesting against it, and claims of state hegemony 56.”

The party added that, with this position, “the national liberation project was completed to begin the path of national construction that was interrupted by the military coups against the political forces that ruled for a few years of the Sudanese state’s independence, which requires redefining the existing definition and a fair analysis of the facts.”

The party stressed that “the Sudanese state has not been exposed throughout its struggle to a crisis like the current crisis today, in which citizens were exposed to the worst violations in which lives were killed, honor was violated, national capabilities, savings, and private property were plundered, and the necessary destruction of infrastructure and public facilities was carried out by the Rapid Support Forces.”

The Democratic Unionist Party, originally from Sudan, explained that “the attacks on citizens forced them to bear arms to defend themselves, their honor, and their property,” praising the broad response from all Sudanese to the call of Mohammed Uthman Al-Mirghani , the wise man of the Sudanese nation, in his address to the masses of the people and to stand with them in the violations they are exposed to.

The party stressed “the necessity of the restriction contained in the speech of the political leader Al-Mirghani, that arming (for everyone in his region) be for what is needed first and to fill the gaps that may target the national cohesion of the Sudanese people.”

The party explained that this “vicious war caused by unilateralism, blind convulsion, recklessness, submission to the lusts of power and tyranny, and riding the wave of desperate adventure, if it continues, will destroy and annihilate what remains of the Sudanese nation,” calling for a military stand and stance and a decisive victory based on the pillars of transitional justice and national reconciliation that repairs the damage of mistakes. The past and a political settlement based on comprehensive national reconciliation that excludes only those who are pursued by justice.”
