Chadian authorities announced the resumption of deportations of Sudanese refugees stranded in the camp in the city of Adri to the camp of Farshna in eastern Chad, after a hiatus of more than eight months.
According to UNHCR, Chad has received more than 700,000 new Sudanese refugees as a result of the ongoing war in Sudan, in addition to tens of thousands of old refugees over the past 20 years.
The new refugees arrived at the Adri camp after the attack on El Geneina, where the camp received Sudanese refugees from various Darfur states, which led to overcrowding due to the lack of shelters.
