A concert honoring the late singer Dhikra Mohamed on the stage of the Municipal Theater in Tunisia was canceled after an urgent ruling was issued on Thursday evening, a few hours before its start.

The lawyer for the late artist’s family, Ahmed Bin Hassana, confirmed that the reason behind canceling the concert was due to an urgent lawsuit filed by the family to prevent the concert from being held, after the organizing company announced its intention to use hologram technology to embody the late artist and exploit her voice.

Bin Hassana explained that Dhikra’s family is still affected by what happened to the artist, which prompted her to refuse to use hologram technology that might harm Dhikra’s image.

He pointed out that the organizers of the concert did not respect the family’s rights, as they decided to use the artist’s image and voice without obtaining the approval of her heirs, which prompted the family to resort to urgent justice to prevent the concert.

The decision to cancel the concert sparked angry reactions in artistic and cultural circles in Tunisia, as many actors in the cultural field considered that the organizing company’s decision harmed the image of the late artist, stressing that the company was looking for financial gain without respecting the applicable laws.

Dhikra is considered one of the most prominent Tunisian artists in the field of music and singing, as she achieved great successes in Tunisia and Libya before moving to Egypt.

During her artistic career, she released 16 albums, including “And My Life Is With You,” which was a great success in 1995, and “Myself Is Dear” and “Youm Alaik” in 2003.

Dhikra’s life ended on November 28, 2003, after she was shot by her husband, the Egyptian businessman Ayman Al-Suwaidi, who killed her in their home in Cairo, along with her assistant and her business manager, before ending his life by committing suicide by gunfire.
