A video of a masked Israeli soldier calling for rebellion against the Israeli Army Chief of Staff and the Minister of Defense went viral, sparking widespread controversy on social media platforms.
The soldier said in the video he posted on the Telegram application: “We will only listen to the Prime Minister,” adding: “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this video is for you. We, the reservists, do not intend to hand over the keys to any Palestinian authority.”
The spokesman for the Israeli army and the Ministry of Defense, Avichai Adraee, announced the opening of an investigation into the incident, noting that “the behavior documented in the video is a serious violation of the Israeli army’s orders and values, and constitutes suspicion of committing criminal violations.”
In turn, the Prime Minister’s son, Yair Netanyahu, posted the video on his personal account, which intensified the controversy over the incident.
The video, which calls for rebellion against Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy and Defense Minister Yoav Galant, raised questions on social media about discipline within the Israeli army and the extent of the impact of political differences on the military institution.
