European traders announced on Tuesday that the Algerian Professional Grain Office has launched an international tender for the purchase of soft wheat flour from optional sources.
The tender requested a nominal quantity of 50,000 tons, but Algeria often buys in its bids much larger than the nominal size required.
The deadline for submitting bids in the tender is scheduled to be Thursday, the second of May, and the offers will remain valid until Friday, the third of May.
Algeria is an important wheat market from the European Union, especially from France, but Russian exporters are expanding strongly in the Algerian market.
In addition, the Algerian National Office of Cattle Nutrition and Poultry on Monday issued international tenders for up to 160,000 tons of feed corn and 70,000 tons of soy feed.
Maize is only required from Argentina or Brazil through up to four shipments of 30,000 to 40,000 tons each.
