Sweets designed in the form of pharmaceutical tablets appeared in the Algerian markets, sparking a wave of concern among specialists and the public.
These sweets are sold during the summer and are popular among children, but at the same time they raise questions about psychological effects and public safety.
Concerns increased as pictures of these pills were circulated on social media, with activists warning that these sweets could encourage children to mistakenly take real medications, exposing them to serious health risks.
On the other hand, others believe that it is the responsibility of families to keep medications out of the reach of children.
A consumer protection activist, Boualem Amrani, confirmed that sweets that resemble medicines could pose a real danger, pointing out the importance of monitoring the markets and withdrawing these products if necessary.
He added that such products must be closely scrutinized at border points to ensure that children are not exposed to any risks.
