Libyan political analyst Yahya Al-Abbar stressed that the UN envoy Abdullah Batili’s invitation to the parties to the Libyan crisis for dialogue is unfair, stressing that his contradiction will lead the negotiations to failure.

Al-Abbar stated in the interview on Al-Massar TV: “It became difficult to drag the House of Representatives and the General Command of the Armed Forces into an unfair dialogue. It is clearly a waste of time, drain of the country’s resources and violation of Libyan sovereignty.”

He explained that the House of Representatives stipulated that the government of Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, whose term had expired, was excluded from the scene, because it was not a political party but rather an obstructionist in the Libyan elections, continuing: “If we assume for the sake of argument that the committee was actually held and it was on the agenda.”

Its work is to establish a new mini-technocratic government. Here we have an element (the Dabaiba government) that does not want this solution and will therefore work to obstruct it.”

Al-Abbar pointed out that the General Command mentioned that if Dabaiba must participate, then the Libyan government headed by Osama Hammad must also take part in it.

Al-Abbar denounced Batelli’s position on this proposal, saying: “We do not know why there is such an insistence from the UN mission that requires Dabaiba to enter the political dialogue.”
