The Ethiopian Foreign Ministry announced in a brief statement that the commander of the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), arrived in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Thursday.

The statement said Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen was greeted by Hemedti at Bole International Airport upon his arrival and was welcomed.

This visit comes after the postponement of the meeting, which was scheduled for December 28, between the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, as the latter affirmed during his meeting with the Ugandan President, on Wednesday, his commitment to the outcomes of the IGAD summit held in Djibouti, and the implementation of commitments to end the war, alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese and restore security and stability to the country.
