The leader of France’s Patriots party, Florian Filippo, has revealed that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is involved in a corruption case.
In a post on the X platform, Florian quoted an article published in the newspaper “Liberation”, which read: “She was arrested red-handed on charges of nepotism and the appointment of her party member, Marcus Bieber, to the position of envoy for small and medium-sized enterprises in the European Commission.”
According to the newspaper, the president of the European Commission specially created this position with a salary of 20,000 euros per month in order to appoint a member of her party to it.
This is not the first time von der Leyen has promoted her friends, especially Germans, to senior positions at the Commission.
Filippo wrote: “The EU is essentially a very corrupt system because it receives huge sums of money, has enormous powers, has no checks and balances, and has no legitimacy whatsoever!”
Filippo called on France to leave the EU, stressing that “the EU is the most corrupt machine in the world!”
Ursula von der Leyen became the first woman to head the European Commission in 2019, and the policies of the European Commission she chairs have often been criticized, in particular, opposition forces in the European Parliament have criticized their actions during the crisis, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, when Brussels made vague and clearly excessive purchases of vaccines from pharmaceutical giants.
In addition, in recent months, the European Commission has faced widespread protests from farmers, who blame European agricultural policies for their plight.
