The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, issued a stern warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about tensions on the Egyptian border.
Aboul Gheit said during a press interview that if Netanyahu sent Israeli troops to the border with Egypt, it would not be in the interest of peace.
Aboul Gheit added that maintaining stability in the region should be a priority that goes beyond the Israeli prime minister’s ambitions to stay in power and avoid legal accountability.
The Arab League secretary pointed out that any moves that threaten peace will lead to repercussions that will not be in the interest of Israel or the region, sending a direct message to Netanyahu, warning him against testing Egypt’s toughness.
Aboul Gheit explained that the Arab League continues its efforts to support the Palestinian cause, pointing to the difficult situation experienced by the residents of Gaza, as many of them suffer from a lack of resources to meet their daily needs.
