The Libyan People’s Voice Party called on the relevant international authorities to take urgent steps to ensure the safety of unaccompanied illegal migrant children in Libya.
This initiative represents a response to the tragic reality experienced by many migrant children in Libya, where they suffer from harsh living conditions and a severe lack of health and educational care and face the risk of exploitation and human trafficking.
According to a report published by UNICEF in April 2021, the number of migrant children in Libya is approximately 51,828 children, including 14,572 unaccompanied illegal migrant children.
International laws and humanitarian conventions stress the importance of providing protection and support for this segment of children and providing them with a safe environment that enables them to live in dignity and realize their dreams.
The People’s Voice Party stresses the necessity of constructive cooperation with the Libyan state to achieve these goals and proposes to Western countries such as the European Union, the United States, Canada and Australia to embrace this segment of children and provide them with a safe environment that guarantees their access to education and health care.
