The match between Sporting Gijon and Eibar in the 41st round of the Spanish League, the second division of football, witnessed an unfortunate accident with the death of a fan of the Sporting Gijon team.
The 70-year-old fan suffered an emergency during the match, which was held at “El Molinon” stadium.
Although the attendants and the team doctor tried to treat him, they were unable to save his life.
Another fan of the same team also suffered a heart attack during the match, but his life was saved thanks to quick treatment in the mobile intensive care unit.
As for the match, Sporting Gijon won 1-0 with a goal scored by Victor Campuzano in the 84th minute.
This victory raised Sporting Gijon’s tally to 62 points, ranking seventh in the league standings for this 2023-2024 season, while Eibar comes in third place with 68 points.
