A 7-year-old child died inside a student transport vehicle after being forgotten and left in the closed car for an extended period of time.

The General Command of the Sharjah Police reported that a call was received at the operations room on Tuesday afternoon regarding the death of a child inside a vehicle in one of the areas of Sharjah. Upon investigation, it was revealed that a parent of Asian nationality had contracted a driver to transport his children to school. Upon arrival, everyone exited the vehicle except for a 7-year-old child. The driver parked the vehicle next to the school, locked it, and left with her husband, without confirming that the vehicle was empty. When it was time for the students to leave, the child was found dead inside the vehicle.

The General Command urged parents to use designated school buses equipped with all safety and security measures, which are subject to ongoing monitoring by relevant authorities, or to personally transport their children to school, as they would be more attentive to ensuring their children’s safety.

The General Command stressed the risks of contracting unlicensed drivers, highlighting that this poses significant risks to children’s lives due to the drivers’ lack of knowledge of the safety procedures imposed by the relevant authorities.
