Local authorities in Nigeria reported that 30 people were killed and others injured in an armed attack on the village of Ayati in Benue State, located in the southwest of the country.

According to press statements made by the state’s media officer, Matthew Aboh, the gunmen opened fire randomly on Saturday evening, resulting in casualties.

It is worth noting that Benue State has recently witnessed similar attacks, as an attack last month resulted in the killing of 25 people.

Nigeria in general is facing a wave of armed attacks carried out by armed gangs, most notably the terrorist organization “Boko Haram”.
