A huge fire that broke out in agricultural lands led to the death of 12 people and the injury of 78 others, in addition to the death of a large number of animals in Turkey.

The fire occurred near the Turkish border with Syria and Iraq, due to burning straw, which turned into a disaster due to strong winds.

The local governor’s office stated that the fire that started last Thursday evening was contained, while the Turkish Minister of Justice, Yilmaz Tun, indicated on the “X” platform that investigations are underway to find out the causes of the accident and confirm its circumstances.

Turkish media reported that the authorities are currently working to cool the affected areas to prevent the recurrence of the fire, and that many animals were rescued, while a number of them died as a result of being trapped in the flames.

From his side, the Turkish Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, said that efforts are continuing to treat the infected, noting that some cases are critical and require intensive care.
