The Central African Republic army says it has repelled, with the help of Russian forces, an attack by Sudanese militants on a mine in the north of the country.
Central African sources said Sudanese militants had crossed into the northern state of Fakaga near the Sudanese border.
The militants attacked a mine near the village of Ma’mun, but were repelled, with the group’s leader, Muhammad Ali, also known as “B13” killed.
Dozens of armed groups are deployed in Sudan in various regions, in light of the existence of a bloody war in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces since last April.
