US officials reassured a delegation of senior Israeli officials who visited Washington this week that the Biden administration is fully prepared to “support its ally” in the event of an all-out war with Hezbollah.
According to statements reported by “CNN” from an American official who participated in those meetings, the Biden administration will provide Israel with the security assistance it needs in the face of “Hezbollah provocations,” although the United States will not deploy its forces on the ground in such a scenario.
During the meetings, the two sides discussed possible “alternative ways” to reduce tension along the Blue Line that separates Lebanon’s southern border from Israel, according to the American official.
In this context, the” Financial Times” indicated that American officials are seeking to reach an agreement between Israel and Lebanon that can be put into effect when a ceasefire is declared in Gaza.
The newspaper added that the United States and its allies must redouble their efforts to contain the Lebanese front even without stopping the fighting in Gaza, to avoid another disastrous war in the Middle East.
The newspaper explained that senior Israeli military commanders consider Hezbollah a “more difficult enemy” given that it is the most armed non-governmental party in the world, with a huge arsenal of missiles, drones, and missiles directed at Israel.
The newspaper noted that Hezbollah is using attacks and dramatic movements, including publishing footage from its reconnaissance aircraft, to demonstrate its ability to put pressure on Israel and end its attack in the Gaza Strip.
