The United Nations Support Mission in Libya expressed its deep concern over the recent military movements in the country, particularly in the southern and western regions.
The mission confirmed that it is closely monitoring these developments, praising the ongoing efforts to calm the situation and prevent the escalation of tension.
In a statement, the mission called on all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid any actions that may contribute to escalating the situation and threatening the fragile stability in the country, thus endangering the lives of citizens.
The mission stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and coordination between the Libyan Arab Armed Forces and the Government of National Unity, to ensure that matters do not get out of control.
The mission concluded its statement by calling for the unification of the country’s military and security institutions, stressing its readiness to provide the necessary support to achieve this goal through dialogue and providing the necessary expertise.
