The United Nations has announced the allocation of $5.3 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund to support Sudanese refugees in Libya.

The funding was announced by Stephane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the United Nations, as this support comes at a time when about 195,000 Sudanese refugees are facing difficult conditions in Libya, which is already suffering from fragile humanitarian conditions.

This amount aims to provide urgent assistance and enhance humanitarian relief efforts for refugees and host communities in Libya, in light of increasing pressures on resources and infrastructure.

It is worth noting that the regional response plan for the Sudan crisis, which includes Libya and Uganda, is facing major challenges due to a lack of funding, as only $313 million out of $1.5 billion has been collected, representing 21% of the amount required to support those affected by the conflict.

This support comes in light of the displacement of more than 2.1 million Sudanese to neighboring countries to escape the bloody violence, which has added an additional burden on countries in the region that are already suffering from complex humanitarian crises.
