The U.S. Embassy in Libya issued a statement on its page on the “X” website, stressing the importance of having security forces in various parts of Libya in order to enhance coordination and cooperation to serve the interests of the Libyan people and protect the country’s sovereignty.
In its statement, the embassy expressed its support for de-escalation efforts in Tadjourah, and condemned the clashes that took place there.
The embassy also joined the United Nations Support Mission in Libya in calling for an end to the violence, stressing the urgent need to unify security efforts to achieve stability and peace in Libya.
At least 9 people were killed, and 16 others were injured on Friday as a result of clashes between two brigades in the Tadjourah area east of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, according to official figures.
