The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of 15 targets of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the elimination of a number of PKK leaders in northern Iraq.

The Turkish Defense Ministry said Saturday (January 6th) that Turkish forces carried out air operations on targets in the areas of Matina, Gara, Hakurk, Qandil and Asus in northern Iraq.

It said 15 targets were destroyed, including caves, hideouts, shelters, and warehouses used by the party and housing “leading terrorists”.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense also pointed out that many targets were neutralized using as much local ammunition as possible in the operations carried out.

It stressed that all necessary measures have been taken to prevent the harm of civilians, friendly elements, and historical, cultural, and environmental assets during the operations.
